Season Two: The Long Dark — The Light Goes Out
First Light woke the world. The Long Dark asks what happens after the sun goes down.
Season One is behind us. Across First Light, creators lit the first fires of the Weave — origin myths, founding worlds, the opening pages of canons that will outlast all of us. Those collectibles are permanent, and the worlds you built are still here. Nothing is lost. First Light simply belongs to history now.
Season Two begins. Welcome to The Long Dark.
The Theme
The Long Dark runs from July 1 through August 31, 2026, and spotlights the genres of fear and the unknown:
- Horror — Fear as the engine. Monsters, madness, and the thing just out of sight.
- Cosmic Horror — Incomprehensible entities and the terrifying smallness of us.
- Gothic Horror — Crumbling estates, buried secrets, and the weight of the past.
- Supernatural — Ghosts, curses, and the thinning veil between the living and the dead.
- Weird Fiction — Where reality frays and the familiar turns alien.
As always, seasons spotlight genres — they never restrict them. Every genre stays open. The Long Dark simply offers a lens, a set of prompts, and collectibles for those who answer the call.
What Lurks When the Light Goes Out?
The prompts on the The Long Dark season page are built to unsettle:
- What did the founders of your world bury, and what is digging its way back up?
- What lives in the places light was never meant to reach?
- Who hears something no one else can, and what does it want?
You do not have to follow a prompt. But if you want a door left slightly ajar, they are there.

A Note from the Curator
The best horror is collaborative. One writer leaves a locked door; another decides what is behind it. A character you created wanders into a house someone else built and never walks out. The Weave is at its most alive when we frighten each other on purpose.
