A deep purple cloak drapes over him from head to toe, casting a shadow that hides all but the starkest details. Strands of dark hair peek out from under the hood, framing a face defined by pale, weathered skin, sunken brown eyes, and a sharp scar cutting across his left cheek.
He holds a staff of old red hardwood in his left hand, its top sculpted by nature into gnarled roots that clutch a raw pink quartz crystal. The only flash of color breaking his muted silhouette is a two-inch strip of dark green fabric lining the inner edge of his robe where the buttons should be—a quiet, deliberate detail on an otherwise reclusive figure.

Backstory
Origin: Aurgyn was once an average citizen of the city of Vaskador. He worked as Barkeep on the edge of town, making just enough to feed himself and his daughter.
One day, his daughter came back inside after being sent out to play with the neighbors, complaining that her stomach was hurting bad and that she felt like she was gonna throw up. Aurgyn helped her get into bed and held her hand in his while she drifted off to sleep. When he woke up the next morning, her condition had gotten way worse. She was burning up with a fever, completely weak, and barely responsive.
Panicked, Aurgyn started shaking her and begging her to wake up, crying out in total desperation. Realizing she was slipping away, he scooped her body up and ran. He tore across Vaskador, sprinting through the markets and down tight alleys just to reach the city entrance. He spotted one of his friends working gate duty as a guard and begged him to let them out. Seeing his friend holding his dying child, the guard gave in and opened the gate.
Aurgyn grabbed a nearby horse and carriage, laid his daughter in the back, climbed into the driver's seat, and took off for the mountains. That's where he sought out Kyzal, an Onum of massive power that the King had explicitly forbidden anyone from communicating with.
Aurgyn begged Kyzal to save his daughter's life before it was too late. Kyzal said he couldn't heal her directly, but offered a bargain instead. If Aurgyn offered up his daughter's life to him, Kyzal would grant him the power to bring her back himself. Aurgyn accepted and used the new power to bind her fading life back to her body. What Kyzal didn't mention was that taking her life meant her soul would still pass on to the afterlife, leaving behind only a hollow shell.
Defining Moment: His daughter's death.
Growth Arc: Aurgyn will learn to let go. His bond with Gonava will grow and will remind him of his daughter. He will have a moment of humility when the group discovers the skull on his hip and confront him about it: forcing him to confess about his daughter and what he had done. His story will end when he sacrifices himself to destroy the mothershroom, tarnishing King Marikal's plans to kill all Onum and their Devotees.
